Fiè allo Sciliar is venturing out into new territory with the relaunch of it‘s Schlern Music Chamber Music Festival. The festival will be held for the first first time from May 16 – 19 2019 and see performances of Mozart’s chamber music contrasted and enriched with romantic and contemporary repertory. With the string quartet formation taking centre-stage, the festival will stage concerts in an informal atmosphere and provide a top-class, non-academic musical experience in a variety of venues, all rounded off with a special gastronomical twist.
Schlern Music is all about exploring unconventional concert settings and new ways of perceiving and listening to chamber music. The picturesque location of Fiè allo Sciliar and it’s surrounding landscape contribute a spectacular backdrop. The musicians leave traditional stages and set out to enchant a little grove near the lake “Völser Weiher”as well as a winery, an ancient chapel, a farm tavern, castle Prösels, a coffee roastery and other venues.
A group of two string quartets and three single musicians, selected by a team around the renowned Berlin based Impresaria Sonia Simmenauer, is in charge of the festival’s 2019 edition taking place from May 16 to 19. The string quartets Goldmund Quartet (DE) and Quatuor Van Kuijk (FR), the Spanish clarinetist Pablo Barragán (ES), the pianist Matan Porat (ISR) and the violist Karolina Errera (RU) will be present throughout the entire period and perform in different constellations. The core repertoire is Mozart, but always complemented by works of other composers, from Debussy to Shostakovich to Widmann and Nishimura.
